  • "Prior to departure we spoke with Jordan at Sykes to ask if there was an Iron/board he checked and said "I can confirm there is an iron and board in the property" on arrival however there was no iron or board and no electricity in the en suite so we called the number on our email who I believe are the Housekeeping team who said they would call the owner and call us back."

They advised the owner said they would send an electrician the following day but there was no iron or board & they don't list it. Agreed, they don't however nor do they list a hairdryer yet there are 2 but they do list an air fryer but there is not one! So I feel their response was poor. The following day we received an email asking for feedback on our first night which we reported as poor due to the above along with the incredible amount of noise the property is affected by from the nightclub opposite and the taxi rank below, the noise goes on until 4/4.30 in the morning and as the apartment has old sash windows that do not seal tightly in the bedroom and no double glazing sleep is an impossibility. We heard nothing from Sykes until Thursday 7th September when I saw a missed call from Sykes I returned the call and spoke with Kerry who after reading the notes advised they were calling for feedback on my first nights report. Whilst Kerry was lovely to speak with and took note of everything and said she would follow up with Jordan re the iron and the owners re the electric she mentioned we probably wouldn't hear back that day but would definitely have a response, and apologised for the issues. However today is 16th September, we have been home a week and have heard nothing from Sykes at all and to add insult I have just received an email asking if I was happy with how the situation was resolved which is just incredible as it never has been. As I mentioned to Kerry although we had an enjoyable week away this was our first booking with Sykes after being recommended to you by friends that have used you but in light of the lack of correct information being given along with the lack of support/aftercare I'm not sure we will use you again. This was a trip for my birthday 4th September but we had to cancel our reservation for my celebration dinner as it was not appropriate to dine in creased clothing in a restaurant, although far from ideal we managed to get through the days with clothing looking dishevelled but unable to visit anywhere of note so the week was spoiled. Additionally as this is shared with the owners it is perhaps worth noting that the photos are a good representation of the apartment however as this a self catering apartment certain basics should be provided (in case guests can't or don't want to dine out) such as a tin opener, oven gloves, cooking utensils and something ovenproof to cook in none of this is avaliable, although they do provide pans for the stove top. Also without doubt the noise situation needs to be addressed.

  • "NO sleep - very noisy at night and thus was not a relaxing holiday!"

Excellent location to all areas of weymouth but the listing needs to highlight the noise of the pubs and clubs, constant shouting by groups of men, racing cars and bikes, spoilt the holiday. This noise was all night and clubs open to 4am and then road sweeper at 7ish and bridge at 8am. Maybe some investment in suitable windows to reduce noise levels. The apartment needs some TLC - scruffy and smelly entrance area with clear damp in areas. Bare wires hanging out of the walls (x4) and roll of cable hanging out of skirting by dining table - dangerous for children. Floor appeared not to be cleaned as spots left from previous guests as well as hair bands on the floor. Door to main bedroom does not close properly and thus lacked privacy, in ensuite no fan and no light for the whole week, so difficult to do make up as no mirror in main room. Sash window in lounge does not work and thus can not shut re noisy at night for child in sofa bed. No instructions for appliances and TV guess work. lots of potential re location!
